ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL -- Z Automation Co. (ZAC), premier packaging equipment manufacturer of horizontal and vertical cartoners and other secondary automation systems, has just released its newly-designed Sleeving System.

Model SL7.5 300C is a continuous motion sleeving machine designed
to pack retort bowls into sleeves at a rate of
300 sleeves per minute.

“This is an innovative solution for our customers because it offers Z Automation’s latest product loading and carton handling features,” says Randy Spahr, Executive Vice President, Z Automation.
Spahr adds that this is the first high speed machine that will sleeve product and seal the top of the sleeve, rather than the bottom.
This feature makes Model SL7.5 300C more user friendly than competitive sleevers in the market because it allows for increased accessibility.
To accomplish this, product is oriented into position and then flipped over so it is packed into the sleeve upside down. A glue seal is then applied to the top of the sleeve.
Sleeve blanks are loaded from the sleeve magazine, which is equipped with a low sleeve sensor, through a high speed, 4-spindle rotary sleeve feeder. In addition to orienting the retort bowls into sleeves, the system also orients the loaded sleeves a second time for case packing.
Expert product loading features also include
• patent-pending Dynamic Sleeve/Carton Cell Chain and
• ZAC’s patented Dynamic Product Bucket with Carry-In Feature.

The Dynamic Product Bucket’s unique design allows it to cup and conform to the product, without damage, for optimal sleeve and carton loading. Once the product has reached the loading station, the Dynamic Product Bucket travels up to the carton folding line or sleeve, clearing the minor flaps of the carton and partially carrying in the product. The overhead product loading unit then transfers the product the rest of the way into the carton or sleeve, which eliminates the need for product change parts.
Additionally, the system features are:
• Recipe-Driven, Automatic Sleeve Depth Adjustment;
• Ink Jet Coder to Date Code the Sleeves;
• Starwheel Product Transfer Conveyor
at the discharge of the sleever, which re-orients the filled sleeves into position for vertical case packing.
